This is the first blog entry for the Bryan Perdue Music web site.  Hi.  I thought I’d start with a little bit of an introduction to who I am and what I’m trying to do.  From the page title you have probably guessed that I am Bryan Perdue - a singer/songwriter of Christian Music.  I write songs more to support the worship service than trying to be a ‘pop star’…if that were my intent I think I’d be unemployed.  I do enjoy writing songs for the church and hearing what people have to say about the music.  Throughout the years I have been told I need to put the music on vinyl…I held out through the vinyl, reel-to-reels, 8 tracks, cassettes and finally settled on the CD.  So, yes, I have been at this for a while.

Most of my acquaintances ask me where I studied music.  I didn’t.  I’m a Geographer by training and a musician out of love.  Well I really should amend that a bit…I did have the opportunity to do some performance studies in classical guitar at Plymouth State University and the University of New Hampshire and continued performance studies at Central Missouri State University.  Self taught on music theory, literature and composition.  I have a lot to learn.

I began writing music for the church in the early 70’s while I was stationed at Anderson AFB Guam.  First songs were putting music to lyric written by my friend Steve Reynolds (where are you Steve?).  It was later while I was in New Hampshire that I started composing steadily.  I was working with a teen choir called the Sounds of Peace at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Newington, NH.   Pastor Gene Krieder and his wife Lois allowed me to participate with the choir and I began writing songs to fill in some of the voids.  At that time there wasn’t much music available for the service.  The first song I wrote was a communion piece called ‘Here I Am’ (and that was the subsequent title of my second CD).  The early songs are scattered throughout the 3 CDs – Peace, Here I Am, and One Voice.  All of the songs are available here on this website.

Looking forward to hearing from people and receiving comments on the CDs.

God’s Blessings

Bryan
